CLAT Syllabus 2019: CLAT Core Committee along with the 19 NLUs formulate the syllabus for CLAT. NLU Odisha, Cuttack will regulate the law examination on May 26 in pen-paper mode. CLAT Syllabus will include questions from English, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics.
The national level exam grants admission in 3 year & 5 year Integrated LLB and LLM programs offered by the National Law Universities (except NLU Delhi) and other Law Schools accepting CLAT Scores. The syllabi for all the programs is different. However, the basic CLAT Exam Pattern remains similar for all.
From 2019, CLAT 2019 will be conducted in Offline (pen-paper) mode, notified NLU Consortium. Know more
Here is the subject-wise CLAT LLM and LLB Syllabus in brief:
- CLAT Syllabus for LLM – topics from Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, and other law subjects. Equal weightage is given to Constitutional law and Jurisprudence section. Total 150 questions are asked from this section.
- CLAT Syllabus for LLB – topics from English including Comprehension, GK & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude, and LR. High weightage is given to GK, Current affairs, and Legal Aptitude. Total of 200 questions appears from this section.

Last year nearly 54,000 students appeared for CLAT 2018. This number is 93% of those who registered. It is expected that the competition for law entrance exam will be high this year. In order to withstand the competition, law aspirants should optimize their preparation plan according to CLAT Syllabus. A total of 47,106 students appeared for CLAT 2019.
CLAT LLB Syllabus
- CLAT LLB exam comprises of 200 questions.
- Each question carries 1 mark, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

CLAT Syllabus for English – tests a candidate’s proficiency in English. There are 40 questions in this section. The section usually has three major components viz.
- Vocabulary – it will majorly cover synonyms, antonyms, and analogies.
- Grammar – you will have to correct the grammatical errors in questions, fill in the blanks with appropriate words etc.
- Comprehension – will test the understanding of a passage including its central theme and word meanings.

CLAT LLM Syllabus 2019

- Questions in CLAT LLM are framed from the subjects studied in the Bachelors Program.
- The level of questions is usually moderate to difficult.
- A candidate’s comprehension of basic fundamentals of law in their UG degree is tested in the examination.
- Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence will both have an equal weightage of 50 marks each in paper.
- Whereas, the rest of the questions are from different topics like Criminal law, International Law, etc.
Constitutional Law consists various rules, practices, and doctrines that govern the functioning of a modern state and other political communities. Candidates are asked questions based on concepts that they have studied in their graduation.
